Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.

Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

My Review

My awesome friend gave me copy of this book and i LOVE her for that. I have been wanting to read this and I'm so happy that she's kind enough to share the book to me. Anyway, I have read a lot of positive feed backs about the book and I have read the summary and thought it will be a good read for me. I've been a fan of vampires since i started reading sci-fi.

The book cover looks so great! It has this mysterious vibe on it and I like it. It really is a plus if the book has a great cover. Agree?

I have read a lot of vampire novels but this version of vampire is so unique. It has it's own twist. I never got bored reading it because it is fast pace. Sofia's character is very likable. She's not the most popular girl but is beautiful. Of course she doesn't realize she's that beautiful. She somehow relates to other girls out there who are not popular but has a great best friend to rely on. Plus, she's in love with him but Ben (the best friend) doesn't know. Then there is Derek Novak. The most powerful and most respected (except his older brother, Lucas). He's the Vampire Prince. Derek seems to be different among his kind. I think it is because he's a former Hunter. I love how i can't decide if I should trust Derek's twin sister Vivienne. You just can't know whether she'll follow the prince or what. However, I have this hatred towards Lucas because he's just so annoying. Get a life Lucas! Anyway, the book is great because it does not only focuses on the main characters but also the minor characters. It makes the book more interesting. I kept reading for I don't know how long and realize I just finished the book. I was like "This can't be happening!!" because it's such a cliff hanger! That moment when this are keep getting better and better and then BOOM! you have just reach the end of a good book. Now I can't wait to read the next book. I hope it will come out sooner so I can get my hands on it. Please write fast Miss Bella! Thanks for writing such great book!!!

P.S.
I strongly advice to everyone that you should read A Shade of Vampire! It has it's own flavor and assure you will love it!

Book Review: Talented by Sohpie Davis

Posted by samantha at 10:14 AM 0 comments

Talented by Sophie Davis

If James Bond and Sookie Stackhouse had a love child with a yearning for vengeance, her story would be TALENTED: an adventure about powerful teenagers who aren't afraid to embrace their fears and fight for what they believe in.

When Talia Lyons was just a child, her parents were murdered before her eyes. Offered a choice between accepting their fate and exacting revenge, Talia trains to become one of the country’s deadliest assassins in order to kill the man responsible for their deaths: Ian Crane. Luckily, Talia was born with a gift- the ability to read and influence the minds of others. At sixteen, Talia is poised to graduate from the McDonough School for the Talented, where she learned to control her abilities. Now there is only one obstacle standing between her and the retribution she craves... Talia herself.

Her greatest asset may also be her undoing; while a formidable weapon in the field, Talia’s talents prevent her from both shutting off the mental connection she shares with her questionable boyfriend and blocking out the thoughts of a beguiling fellow recruit. But Talia can’t afford to have the feelings and distractions of a normal teenage girl, when her life is far from normal.

She must regain the single-minded determination that has brought her this far, or it may cost Talia her life when she finally faces Crane. And even after being molded in to a weapon of war, she’ll still have to find the strength it takes to pull the trigger.

My Review

**this may contain spoilers**

Let's start off with the cover, shall we?  I LOVE this cover. The other is not so much exciting as this one but still works. I really like how the cover shows the strength of the main character Talia. She looks so fierce! It's simple yet it catches your attention.
Honestly I didn't expect much from the book when I first read the synopsis but you never know what's inside the book unless you read. I got curious and decided to read it. It turn out to be one of the most exciting books I've read and now one of my favorites. I love how Miss Sophie started the book. You'll be excited and curious what the hell was going on. It's really a good thing I decided to read the book.
I love Talia's character. She has a super cool ability to read and influence the minds of others, two male roomies (Eric and Henri) and a boyfriend (Donavon)  that is the son of the director of the school. She showed her determination to prove that she can be a part of the Hunters because she wanted to take revenge on the person who behind of her parents murder. I like books that shows the will and strength of women. They prove that women should not be taken lightly.
On the other side, Talia's love triangle with Eric and Donavon is one of my favorites in the story. In the beginning I'm really team Eric. Love the playboy/bad boy effect he has. Donavon is nice and sweet but I have this nagging feeling while I was reading that he's up to something. I thought when Talia found out that he's cheating on her was "I knew it!!". Their is so much to their love triangle because Talia sometimes misses Donavon but hates him so much and their's her feelings for Eric. It's good that she doesn't move on that fast and started dating Eric cause that would unrealistic. I mean, who would've move on that easily if that guy was your only friend or shoul I say only person when you were so depressed. Still, I'm on team Eric!
She has so much things going on at the same time that I don't know how she will succeed. The book keeps getting better and better. Talia's face off with Ian Crane was epic! She's so badass and all but Crane captured her and said something that surprised me. That he knew Talia's father. Like woah. How in the Hades did he know her father? Epic twist there. She barely escape Crane and Donavon was the one who rescued Talia on her solo mission was like "What the f***? It should have been Eric!" but that made the story more exciting.
The ending is such a cliff hanger! I have so many questions and thoughts what will happen to Talia when she gets back after her mission. I must read the next book so my anxiety can be put to rest.

Overall, I like how Miss Sophie written the book. It is fast pace and not boring. Although sometimes she explains things over and over again but I must say it's a great and a must read book.

The Eternity Cure - Julie Kagawa. A Blood of Eden Novel

Summary: Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

Thoughts about the book cover

AHHHHHH!! I'm super excited to see the cover. I love it! The cover seems to tell the reader that there are so many things to watch out for in the book. It has this mysterious vibe and I'm willing to bet my soul that it will be a great book. All the feelings in the world!! Miss Julie Kagawa never fails me to shed so many different emotions. I'm really looking forward to what will happen to Allie. The first book brings out the badassery of Allie and now here in the second book i feel she'll be more badass than ever. I can't wait know what will happen to her and Kanin. And what will happen to Zeke? Will they meet again? Will Zeke help Allie? So many questions going around my mind right now! Fangirling mode on! ROFL! Anyway, at least we don't have to wait any longer because the book will come out nationwide on May 1.
So here's some of my reaction when my sister posted the book cover on my facebook wall...

For the others who haven't read the first book

Summary: To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness…

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred ofthem—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide whatandwhois worth dying for…again.

Enter Julie Kagawa's dark and twisted world as an unforgettable journey begins.
